Hey Everyone,

I hope everyone is enjoying life at the lake this HOT end of summer!

As many of you have probably heard, I’ve been working on a study this summer looking at erosion , boat use, and collecting information around Newman Lake that is quantifying the waves created by different boats. A part of this study is to understand what boats are coming onto the water vs what boats are residential. I’ll be sending a survey soon for all of the residents around the lake and I will encourage you to fill that out when it becomes available.

For now, I’m looking for some volunteers to go spend some time counting boats (with a few other details) at the public boat launch. Preferably, you’d go on a busy time and spend a few hours there (I definitely encourage a comfy chair and a beverage of your choice for this activity, maybe a friend that you want to catch up with!) I went on the 4th of July and it was very interesting to see the range of boats that got onto the lake. If you’re interested in helping me out with this study, shoot me an email and I’ll send you the spreadsheet I’d like you to take along that will help guide you with the information I’d like to collect. I really appreciate any effort you’re willing to give on this front. Feel free to pass this along to anyone at the lake as well!

Thanks!
Lindsay
