In March and April work will resume on the new trail in the additional acreage of the McKenzie Conservation Area at Newman Lake.

We will be fortunate to have help from the Spokane Mountaineers, which will provide trail-building tools and some experienced workers. Any Newman Lake recreationists or property owners who can participate are encouraged to do so. This is a great chance to become acquainted with the McKenzie trails and meet some other active hikers. Some of these folks have come out multiple times to help us build the new trail.

We have three dates set, and can use help on any of the dates:

Wednesday, March 14
Saturday, April 7
Friday, April 20

On each date we will gather at the McKenzie Conservation Area. parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes and bring gloves, water, and a lunch. Dress for the weather. You will need a day pack because we have to hike to the work site and won’t be near the cars. We will wrap up around 3 p.m. Trail-building experience isn’t required. Spokane Mountaineers experts will show us what to do.
